Rod & Staff Algebra?
By Mark Roth on March 27, 2008 at 8:00 am
A customer, concerned about post-Grade-Eight Rod and Staff math, emailed us: “Can you tell me if Rod and Staff plans an algebra series. I am so happy with their math curriculum, and I worry about what to do when we have completed it.”
So I called the friendly folks at Rod and Staff.
Thus what I have to say is fresh from the horse’s mouth. 😯 (Somehow, that sounds gross!)
They have just begun work on an algebra book, so production is still a couple of years out.

No, we don’t sell this book. (Although, if you click the above image, you will go to Amazon’s page where you may purchase it.)
Last week (as I recall) I received a free review copy from the author (Ruth Beechick) with a handwritten note inviting us to carry the book.
If you have read the book, do you think we should start offering it to our customers?

Never Alone — Galina’s Story
By Mark Roth on March 20, 2008 at 9:14 am

Galina’s father was arrested when she was too small to remember. But her mother told her how she had waited by the tracks to meet him. When the train arrived, he was not on board. Galina grew up watching her godly mother’s life of faith and seeing how God cared and provided for their family.
When Galina’s husband Pavel was ordained, she remembered her father’s imprisonment and her mother’s hardships. She knew she and Pavel might well face the same trials. “I am Yours, Lord,” she prayed. “I am willing to do whatever You call us to, and even to suffer for Your name’s sake.”
One day Galina had a visitor. “My dear sister, I have sad news for you.”
Their worst fears had come true. Pavel had been arrested.
