    Coming From Christian Light

By Mark Roth on December 19, 2007 at 7:57 am

    Update 1 by Mark:

We’ve had these books for several days now but I haven’t had time to get them online. 🙁

Original post by Dora: December 5 at 10:10 am:

We just got our 2008 general catalog from Christian Light Publications.

Here are five new books. So new we have not yet received them from CLP! Hopefully we’ll have them available for your purchase before too long.

Where Is Frederick?, Verna Martin — Through the fascinating antics of one of God’s amazing creatures, children will enjoy learning about amphibious animals and hibernation in this fast-paced ilustrated book for primaries.

Hiram and Jonas, Wendy Boyd — They were a Christian family happily looking forward to a new baby. Soon they learned there were not one, but two! How exciting! Then the unusual symptoms began. The doctors didn’t seem alarmed, but as it turned out, the mother went into labor early. Statistically, babies born at twenty weeks don’t survive. Babies born at twenty-four might. What would happen to theirs? The author is refreshingly candid about their weaknesses and struggles. Their testimony is clear–God is faithful through any storm to those who reach out to Him.

Never Alone — Galina’s Story, Violet Miller — Galina’s father was arrested when she was too small to remember. But she knew why it happened. He was a pastor. When Galina’s husband Pavel was ordained, she remembered her father’s imprisonment and her mother’s hardships. She knew she and Pavel might well face the same trials. “I am Yours, Lord,” she prayed. “I am willing to do whatever you call us to, and even to suffer for Your name’s sake.” One day Galina had a visitor. “My dear sister, I have sad news for you.” Their fears had come true. Pavel had been arrested. Never Alone is much more than a chronicle of persecution. It is a story of commitment, the power of prayer, and the blessings of brotherhood. It is a testimony of God’s protection, a challenge for today’s Christians, and a reminder that, regardless of our circumstances, God’s children are never alone.

Daughters of Eve, Daughters of God, Brenda Weaver — As a fearful five-year old, the author watched her family break apart and her father storm angrily out of their lives. Heartbroken, she could not imagine how God would ever fill her empty longings. Years later she could look back and see God’s powerful redemptive work, even through deep disappointments and trying circumstances. In Daughters of Eve, Daughters of God, the author shares her testimony of God’s remarkable grace.

Thatched Roofs and Prairie Blizzards, Elizabeth Wagler — Dominga and Santiago live with their children in Belize, a country of hot days, colorful parrots, and tall palms. Karen and James live with their children on the Canadian prairies where the growing season is short and winters are bitterly cold, with blinding blizzards and deep drifts.
The homes of these two families are very different, but as you follow their normal, everyday lives, you’ll see that much is the same. People face challenges no matter where they live, and God enjoys meeting those needs in a variety of ways.
