| Family Worship | James Alexander | |
|
From the beginning of time, strong homes and families have been foundational to a strong and stable society. History has proven again and again that the deterioration of the family unit invariably leads to the downfall of churches, societies, and nations. This is not surprising, when we consider that God designed the home at Creation, not only to propagate the human race in purity, but also to train each generation for a life of responsibility and usefulness. A primary purpose in that design is spiritual instruction and training for the eternal salvation of the soul. This purpose is only carried out effectively when Christ is the Head of the home, each member is seeking to follow the Holy Scriptures, and prayer and spiritual instruction are a daily part of family activity. Thus family worship is vital in building strong, stable, Christian home -- homes that will be an asset to the church, community, and nation by preparing men and women for a life of usefulness to God.
Although specific methods may vary in different families, a regular period of Bible reading, prayer, and devotion for the family is essential for godly homes. Fathers and mothers and other family members will find the emphasis on family worship in these pages inspirational and beneficial in this important part of family life. This is a reprint of a valuable old book (1847) on this important subject. It thoroughly discusses the different aspects of Scripture reading, prayer and song, with practical directions for overcoming excuses and difficulties. Newly reprinted and slightly revised, it is recommended reading for every parent. 135 pages. Paperback. Ambassador Publishers.
