Evangelistic services were being held, and many miners were listening to the Gospel. Ike Miller had said he would break up the meeting. One evening he came into the service and took a seat near the front. Henry Moorhouse, the young preacher, was preaching on the love of Christ.

The preacher and all his fellow workers were afraid Ike would create a disturbance. Unknown to them, a disturbance was created. It was in the depths of Ike’s soul. As he listened to the message of a Saviour’s love, his proud heart was broken. The light of the Gospel shone in.

When the meeting was over, Ike left for his home. Several older Christian surrounded the young evangelist and told him he had missed a great opportunity. Jesus said that there is joy among the angels when a sinner repents and comes to God.

God is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9).
